Fibrecrafts

Fibrecrafts sell most things crafty, so are great if you are buying lots of different items, as this can cut down your postage bill, especially if you live in the Highlands!  They have a good selection of natural dye materials and their starter dye kits are good for beginners, as they have a little bit of everything (not so keen on the chrome though).

World of Wool

I get most of our needle felting needles from World of Wool as well as any extra coloured fleece I might need. They offer discounts if you buy in bulk. I like them as they donated lots of fleece to a project I was part of.

Forest Fibres

Forest fibres are a great little company, who I have bought my hand-carders from, they also sell natural dyes and other felting equipment.

The Loch Ness Brewery

Our local micro brewery, which does a range of award winning ales and cider. The brewery is attached the the Ben Lever hotel, pub and restaurant in Drumnadrochit.

Cannich Stores

A great village shop,  which always seems to have everything you need whether travelling or living in the area. Mr whippy ice cream, coffee and even kangaroo sausages!  Nicole and Brad who run the shop will also do deliveries.

Travelling Yarns

Local supplier of great quality Scottish yarns. Catherine sells beautiful yarns as well as knitting patterns, we try and visit her on some of our trips, as her colours and textures are just great.

Munro’s butchers (Beauly and Dingwall)

Great all round butchers. With a slaughter house in Dingwall miles travelled by the beasts and meat is low, making it very fresh and local.

Glen Ord Distillery (Muir of Ord)

The last distillery in the area and has been running on and off since 1838. Produces a revered 12 year old single malt. It was one of the first distilleries to use an ecological treatment system to process its waste water. Tours available. 01463 872 004

Robertson’s The Larder (Beauly)

We buy much from their wide range of fresh, local produce. Including soft fruit and eggs and also locally grown vegetables and other produce. 01463 782 181

Black Isle Berries & Ryefield Farm Shop (Tore)

Supply a wide range of local produce. We come here for their home-grown soft fruit, especially in the jam making season! They also press their own delicious apple juice. 01463 811 276

Corner on the Square

Excellent delicatessen, from whom we get some local produce, including Highland cheeses and other lines from further afield for the occassional treat! 01463 783 000

Highland Wholefoods

Wholefood cooperative. Supplies us with many organic and other hard to source store cupboard  ingredients not otherwise available in the region. 01463 712 393

Highland Hog Roast

Rear traditional rare breeds of pig, including Saddleback, Berkshire and Tamworth, in large outdoor enclosures where they are free to roam in family groups, grazing and rooting about. No chemicals or growth enhancers are used. Supply great pork and can also do hog roasts for events.

Oakbank Bakery

Wonderful artisan breads and other baked goods.

Baking Birds

Great homemade baking using local produce! Whilst we do most of our own baking for holidays, we buy extra little treats from their lovingly prepared range of cakes, éclairs, scones, biscuits and a wide variety of traybakes.
