Fleece to Needle Felt craft week May 20th-27th 2017
Next year we have Fi Oberon joining us in May to teach on one of our courses. Fi will be teaching two days of needle felting at the end of the course. The first half of the week will be spent mostly outdoors; watching a hand-shearing demonstration, scouring/washing fleece, foraging in the woods for dye plants, making natural plant dyes outside over fires and then of course dyeing our fleece! Guests will also have a opportunity to see some of Scotland’s beautiful scenery, including Glen Affic, which is known as one of the most stunning glens in the Highlands and the whole of Scotland. The first half of the week will be very much an outdoors experience, enjoying the woods where we live, the Highland scenery and working with fleece and plant materials.
Fi Oberon teaching needle felting at Wild Rose Escapes
The last two days of the course will be spent with Fi Oberon turning some of the stunning naturally dyed fleece into sculptural pieces. Fi specializes in animal sculpture and will teach participants how to create life like and characterful animal and bird sculptures. The naturally dyed fleece, created earlier in the week, will make these little creatures even more life like.
Fi is a world renowned needle felter and has recently released her book The Natural World of Needle Felting
