Natural Dyeing Outdoors
It really feels like Spring arrived today, although we had a pretty frozen morning, we had beautiful sunshine all day, which meant I was able to do my first lot of outdoor natural dyeing for 2016. I have been dyeing fleece ready for the
Country Living Magazine Spring Fair in March- where I am demonstrating felting with naturally dyed fleece. I have dyed some fleece with tree Lichen, Madder, Indigo and Turmeric. All quite easy dyes to produce strong colours en mass.
I have been busy washing fleeces for the show, which is going well, apart from very cold hands, as the water on the pond has been frozen each morning -definitely a labour of love! I have also been dyeing our silk scarves ready for the show. I have just dyed a batch of Madder, ready to print with a few of the remaining Rose leaves we have, Lichen and Walnut.
Our first Spring courses start in April and May:
Felting with naturally dyed fleece: April 9th-10th
Natural Dyeing weekend course: May 14th-15th
Fleece to Felt week: May 21st-28th
